This mosaic was commissioned by the City of Victor Harbor in 2020, with substantial funding from Country Arts SA.
I collaborated on the design of this artwork with Cedric Varcoe, a Ngarrindjeri artist. Cedric is known for his colourful paintings incorporating his iconic Ngarrindjeri figures and landscape features. Essentially my job was to convert Cedric’s painting style to mosaic and to lead the tile-cutting and installation work.
I ran community workshops in Victor Harbor and Goolwa, where volunteers put in many hours to complete this work. After 3 years the work was finally ready to be installed. Installation was a tricky job, beautifully done by Matt Turley in June 2023.
