I enjoyed the drive to Peterborough, through South Australia's mid-north. I was driving up there to hold a two day tile cutting workshop with a group of enthusiastic locals. In the back of my car were the working drawings for two mosaic table tops. I would show workshop participants how to cut tiles and make the mosaics ready to be installed on the table tops.
The tables were in a community garden - so the designs are based on garden produce and some of the wildlife that inhabits the area. Once the mosaics were made, I returned to Peterborough to help install them. The community garden is a delightful place - complete with a wood fired oven from which emerged many delicious pizzas!
The mosaics are made from hand-cut, glazed ceramic wall and floor tiles. The work was completed in June 2013.
