Beachport is a lovely town to arrive at after a long drive - sculptural artworks greet you on the way in and, as you reach the very centre of town, there's an outdoor shower wall on the foreshore lawns resplendent with a bright and welcoming image of a Leafy Sea-Dragon.
This artwork was commissioned by the Beachport District Development Association, as part of the 2010 Beachport Festival 'SeaFari'.
The Leafy Sea-Dragon is a much loved local creature and was well suited to being depicted in mosaic. An enthusiastic band of about 28 local volunteers worked alongside me for 12 days to fabricate and install the mosaic.
The work is all hand-cut, glazed ceramic wall tiles.
The design, fabrication, and installation of this work was completed during February 2010.
